My name is Breda Coughlan and I am an Educational Consultant.
I have worked over the last five years with children and teenagers who find learning difficult.
A lot of these students have a diagnosis of dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD, or are on the autistic spectrum. Others have no diagnosis, only a mother’s gut feeling that something is not right.
Although my background is nursing, I started down the journey of helping children to learn, because my oldest child was diagnosed with severe dyslexia in 2nd class.
Although the Educational Psychologist gave recommendations on how to help my son to learn, they did not seem to suit him.
I looked outside the school system to find a way that could help this bright and intelligent child to learn.
I discovered Visual Learning and our lives were transformed.
I ended up training in the Visual Programme and set up At Ease with Dyslexia in 2012.
I also trained in a visual programme that teaches ANY student how to study, called Learning by Pictures.
In March 2017, I opened the Study Hub in Loughrea, Co.Galway.
The Study Hub offers after school study for all second level and third level students that need an environment that is away from school and distractions from home and technology free. It also offers the help of a supervisor that supports the students on a daily basis with study techniques, weekly grinds from highly experienced teachers in most subjects and intensive midterm courses.
My belief is that every single student has an ability to learn and can reach their full potential when supported in a correct way.
