Manual Handling
To comply with the current Health and Safety legislation,staff engaged in manual handling must be given training in safe manual handling techniques. The training provided at The Study Hub Training Facility Loughrea will demonstrate to your staff how to carry out manual handling correctly and therefore avoid back injuries.
Every company have a legal requirement to ensure that all staff know how to conduct MANUAL HANDLING SAFELY.80% of back injuries are caused by incorrect manual handling techniques and this leads to the most frequent cause of workers compensation claims!!!

Course Objectives
On completion of this course participants will be able to:

- Recognise a load which is too heavy or awkard

- Dangers of careless and unskilled methods
- Principles of levers and laws of motion
- Anatomy of the spine and muscular system
- How the body is harmed through incorrect handling techniques
- How to handle loads safely
- Lifting to and form ground level
- Lifting to and form a height
- Pushing
- Pulling
- Other organisation specific lifting tasks
- Competence testing
Who is the course aimed for?
All staff engaged in manual handling activities during their working day.
Methods of Training
This course combines classroom methods with “hands -on” practical work with different types of materials.
Assessment/Certification
Each participant will be assessed on their practical manual handling techniques.
On completion of the course there will be a written assessment and successful participants will be awarded a Certificate in Manual Handling which is valid for 3 years.
Requirments: Must have a good understanding of English.
Start Time: 2.30pm SHARP -5.30pm (approximately) Last Saturday of every month .
Attendees must be over 16yrs
Numbers Allowed Minimum = 8 to run the class -Maximum =20
